Now this is what I call a great weekend: playing live three days in a row…
On Friday me and the boys headed out to Bergen op Zoom Jazz Festival. Benjamin Travinski made his debut as our bass player and did a really good job. Yeah, I saw your surprised faces as I told you that it was his first night! So thank you Ben for your dedicated work and thank you everyone in the audience for a splendid night. First time in your city, but hoping to be back soon. Hey, and excellent hmmm, whadaya call ‘em, bitterballs (?) at De Enghel! What a warm welcome.
Along came Saturday and with a heavy head I threw myself in a train towards Amsterdam where a grand piano was especially rented for me (yeah!) so I could play three songs live at Radio 2’s TROS Muziekcafé. I had some of the nicest reactions ever from the listeners there and at home, thank you so much for that appreciation.
Then on Sunday Miriam Moczko picked me up and together we drove to Eindhoven for a home concert. First up was Miriam together with her cello player Beate, then our good friend Yaso Romero Fernandes (check her excellent songs in Flemish here) and then the grand piano was all mine. I had a great view from my chair: a living room packed with music lovers. Even the weather was playing along: it rained constantly as we performed, but as soon as the concert was done the sun came out and we could all enjoy a drink (eh… drinks) outside.
Weekends like this… ugh… I live on ‘em.
